Review of the film "The Mummy" (2017)

A movie with a good video sequence and a completely simplified script, decent, albeit infrequent special effects, and weak acting. And it loses in all respects to Sommers' "Mummy" dilogy, filmed on the verge of millennia.

There are probably the most questions about acting. This is not the first time Tom Cruise has played a guy who saves the world, but in the film he appears as a soldier with the intelligence of a 20-year-old boy who has not yet decided on his place in life, irresponsible and stupid. Agree, as for a 50-year-old actor - it's too simple, and, I would say, wild. Brendan Fraser in "The Mummy" in 1999 was also not endowed with the intelligence of a scientist, but he was a junior and his actions looked more accidentally clumsy than incomprehensible. There is also an imbecile friend of the main character, who probably should have played a similar role as John Hannah in the same movie of '99 - but he only infuriated the whole movie, not made it laugh. Annabel Wallis, the assistant and romantic interest of the main character, with her lack of acting only makes it possible to regretfully recall how organic Rachel Weisz looked in her role. The well-fed Russell Crowe was very disappointed, he tried to play only at the expense of his charisma? Or was there nothing to play at all?

Here is the question of the script right away. Most characters open their mouths only to blurt out some nonsense. Or to talk about the internal report, the essence of evil or other tall tales that are incomprehensible neither to us nor to them. The heroes are always running somewhere, but they don't fully understand where and why, and the final fight looks just sad... As for the beginning of the announced "Dark Universe", the film reveals the characters too weakly, and does not build any basis for the following stories at all - and this is a failure. There are actually few funny moments, and they are so disconnected from the general plot outline that "The Mummy" is also not suitable as an entertaining movie, unlike the 1999 movie, which was more a comedy than an action-packed adventure film. The genre in "The Mummy" with Tom Cruise is a mystery...

But it should also be noted quite pleasant moments in the film - a good role of Sofia Boutella, actually the Mummy, Princess Amanet, perhaps due to the fact that she spoke little, therefore had less chance to say stupidity. The scenes of the crash of an airplane and a car were coolly and tastefully shot, the camerawork should be noted, it was really exciting. And the movie itself does not fill its teeth with constant self-repetition like the 5th "Pirates" or the 8th "Fast and Furious", it looks easy, like an ordinary summer blockbuster. Undoubtedly, Tom Cruise fans will like it. But this blockbuster is not a high-quality creation, but a mediocrity that will be forgotten in a day. Or should this be the beginning of the "Dark Universe" - the big question... Sosyal casino ve BetAndreas bahis şirketi gerçek ödemeleri kabul etmemektedir.
