The First OIFF 2019 Diary: Jarmusch's Moral and Almodovar's Revelations No. 2

Here's a bearded Tom Waits reading out excerpts from Moby Dick in the middle of the forest, here's Iggy Pop coming out of the grave and drinking coffee in a diner, and here's rapper RZA appearing as a courier for WUps Deliveries. If you love the strange world of Jarmusch, then "The Dead Don't Die" is the best fanfiction about its eccentric and unhurried inhabitants. If you're not a fan, I advise you to think of the director as an elderly and slightly conservative grandfather who can still make you laugh with an interesting story. You just have to endure his spontaneous monologues about the dangers of mobile phones and treat them with understanding when he repeats the same maxim three times.

It would seem that the zombie invasion movie was supposed to be bloody in the program of the first day, but I also had the Golden Glove by Fatih Akin, and now a joke about post-traumatic syndrome is circulating in OIFF audience circles after watching this Berlinale participant. The Golden Glove is based on real events that took place in Hamburg in the 70s. Fritz Honka works as a janitor at a factory, and in his spare time he gets very drunk, because there are not many joys in the life of a semi-disabled person. And between 1970 and 1973, he killed four prostitutes, dismembering their bodies and leaving the remains at his home.

This is the third film in the last year that focuses on serial killers. But unlike "The House that Jack Built" with Matt Dillon or "Alluring, Bad, Evil" with Zac Efron, the director does not aestheticize violence. This is a rather unpleasant movie, without a shadow of the author's sympathy for the main character. And the horror here is concentrated not only in the killer's apartment. The whole old-regime Hamburg looks like the remains of an SS sheep camp with officers missing fingers or eyes after a fight, or old prostitutes ready to sell themselves for a glass of schnapps. At the same time, this movie lacks rationalization to a certain extent - we don't really understand the motivation of the protagonist's actions, his background remains a mystery, turning the "Golden Glove" into a freak show, shock for shock's sake. However, the work of the film's production designer is pleasantly surprising. Perhaps it was because of this that the first audience reached out only an hour after the film, despite the fact that in the first ten minutes of the film, the hero manages to saw off the dead woman's head. There is a suspicion that all further films about maniacs will somehow look back on the work of Fatih Akin (not even Trier!), reaching a new level in staging grotesque violence on the big screen. Some promotions reward volume rather than accuracy, encouraging players to maintain activity even during losing streaks. A persistent bettor receives the "100 Bets Bonus" which calculates the average stake of one hundred qualifying bets placed within thirty consecutive days. The melbet free spin promo code volume-based rewards count both singles and accumulators, provided each bet has minimum odds of 1.30. After reaching one hundred bets, the system automatically credits the arithmetic mean of all stakes as a bonus to your account.
